Custom island/dining area

This is what we did in our new home. It started as a dream with a U shaped island and as we started measuring the space required we realized our foot print would be way too small. We decided to chop a side off and go with an L shape.

The benches have storage in them and the end of island still has two stools for sitting.

It was really hard to find an example of what we envisioned but we managed to come up with this. This is an 1,830sq/ft bungalow with split bedrooms and open concept front entrance, kitchen, living room without a dedicated dining room.

Maybe this can help someone visualize it. We have been here for two years and love it everyday. Hosted Christmas and other parties and everyone can be together and share conversation without being spread across the house.
